Ryan Kalivretenos- Fashion for RAINN Photographer

When I first received word that I was photographing the Fashion for RAINN campaign, I was so touched that I could be part of something so great. To be part of an initiative that is going to make a difference, to help people on an individual basis. The overwhelming amount of sexual assault in not only the United States, but the World, is disturbing, to say the least. If we can come together and bring awareness to this endemic we can help those victims whose words are never heard. If we can give confidence to a victim to make his or her voice heard, we can change lives. If we can bring awareness to the average person, that person may in turn help a victim. I personally feel that we, as a society, have become desensitized to sexual abuse. It is often overlooked or dismissed as commonplace or “not that big of a deal”, but it is far from that. Ask any victim, ask them how his or her life has changed. I hope that the photos I create will open the eyes of anyone that views them and allows them to see and feel what is happening in this nation. I hope that one day that every victim has the courage to stand up and speak. I hope that one day we, as a society, can reduce the number of victims of sexual abuse.

This past Monday we had our first shoot, which went incredibly well. It would not have been possible without the support of everyone that came out to be part of this wonderful campaign. Thank you! I truly appreciate each and every one of you!!

Thank you for the opportunity!!

Lindsay Rae Frumer - Fashion for RAINN Chairperson

I would like to start by welcoming everyone to Fashion for RAINN. My name is Lindsay Rae Frumer and I am the chairperson for this year's Fashion for RAINN campaign. When Krishnar approached me with the opportunity to become a member of this organization, I saw it as an honor and jumped at the chance to make a difference.

Fashion for RAINN is a fashionable initiative to raise awareness for sexual abuse, rape and incest. Every two minutes in this country, there is a case of sexual abuse and the RAINN organization holds a very special and personal place in my heart. Growing up, my home became a sort-of safe haven for a few of my close friends who had experienced abuse and had no where to turn. At 15 years old I had none of the necessary tools to help my friends cope with the extremely tough issues they were facing. The RAINN organization is able to offer FREE hotlines for victims, assistance finding therapy, and safe-houses to go to for victims of sexual abuse.

Join me, Krishnar, the RAINN organization, and other fashionistas in the fight to raise awareness against sexual abuse. Trust me when I say that even the smallest contribution to the cause can make a huge difference!!!

Take care,

Will You Join me in Supporting FASHION FOR R.A.I.N.N.

I've recently had to deal with the issues surrounding sexual assault because of a family member who had experienced rape and turned to me for help.  The life altering effects of such a catastrophic event is the reason R.A.I.N.N. (Rape, Abuse, & Incest, National Network) is giving hope to thousands by providing accredited resources and vital information.  In particular, I've discovered that in the African American community, openly or otherwise discussing sexual assault is taboo.  Thus the value of R.A.I.N.N.'s national sexual assault online hotline that allows a victim to get help in a safe and confidential way is immeasurable and it's free!

EVERY TWO MINUTES SOMEONE IN AMERICA IS SEXUALLY ASSAULTED!!!  Yep, it's true! Check out the facts at www.rainn.org.

A group of close friends, who also happen to be some of the hottest, talented, most respected people in the fashion market, retail, and entertainment industries are showing support to victims affected by sexual assault by participating in the FASHION FOR R.A.I.N.N. initiatives.

FASHION FOR R.A.I.N.N will be a campaign of fashion advertisements used to advocate sexual assault awareness.  I'm personally challenging each of us in the fashion and retail community.  Calling all fashion editors, stylists, buyers, merchandisers, photographers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, production crew members, designers, retailers, wholesalers, studio centers, marketing exec's and advertising directors!  Each of us can give a little of ourselves to such a worthwhile cause by volunteering our time and talents toward the production of these fashionable messages!

Will you join us?  It's the fashionable thing to do.   Ask me how you can help!

Love & Passion,

Krish
